Geocoding – An Odyssey
Excellent property risk assessment needs excellent property level data and excellent property level geocoding.
Geocoding or address matching is critical to effective property risk assessment. Poor geocoding matches occur when the address entered for assessment is matched to the wrong property or location. Everything that follows is incorrect regardless of how sophisticated the peril models or other data is.
Gamma developed our address matching capabilities in Ireland, where a postcode wasn’t present until 2015. The difficult addressing environment forced us to create methods and processes to use property level data for address matching to support our solutions. Our expertise was critical in the creation of the Irish Postcode System, EIRCODE, where we were technical partners on the project, creating the first property level postcode in the OECD.
Our sister company, Autoaddress has progressed to provide global address matching APIs and expertise in over 200 countries. This knowledge and expertise we rely on, for our world class geocoding and address matching components.
