How BERWOW Works

BERWOW is a cloud-based technology platform developed to provide retrofit dashboards and Energy Upgrade Calculators to homeowners.

It uses BER certificate data to produce a list of energy upgrades options for houses and apartments. The user can select and deselect measures or choose from the options provided to plan their own retrofit project.

If homeowners do not have an BER certificate, they can select from multiple building typologies where they should generally find a dwelling type similar to theirs.

What The User Learns

BERWOW calculates the financial and carbon scenarios of each home-owner selection in sub-second time, allowing the user to try out different bundles of measures. Included outputs are:

Detailed monthly net finance costs after grants and energy savings.
Detailed calculations on carbon footprint impact.
Expected energy rating based on measures selected and current rating.
Options to include Green Loan alternatives and reduced mortgage rates based on higher energy rating achieved.
Details of timeframe before net project costs are paid back in energy savings.
Options to include estimates of home value increase also.
